UNM Cancer Center – Las Cruces 2530 South Telshor Blvd., Suite 201 MAP Serving Southern New Mexico and West Texas In January 2007, the UNM Cancer Center – Las Cruces opened its doors, bringing expert doctors, radiologists, pharmacists and cancer specialists to the region. Since that time, the UNM Cancer Center has built a lasting partnership with Memorial Medical Center, where the UNM Cancer Center – Las Cruces is housed. Our physicians in Las Cruces have real-time access to the wealth of experience of specialists, as well as shared diagnostic tools through hard-wired computer links located in Albuquerque. The UNM Cancer Center in Albuquerque is home to more than 85 board-certified oncology physicians, representing every area of cancer expertise, and more than 120 cancer researchers. Together, these outstanding minds partner to provide our patients in Las Cruces with the world-class cancer care they deserve.
The UNM Cancer Center is deeply invested in Southern New Mexico. For the past 27 years, we have partnered with Cowboys for Cancer Research and New Mexico State University to find new ways to diagnose and treat cancers. In 2005, this partnership led to the groundbreaking discovery of a new estrogen receptor, which is dramatically changing the way women’s cancers are diagnosed and treated. We are also pleased to partner with Aggies Are Tough Enough to Wear Pink, which raises breast cancer awareness and vital funds to research this disease. Our Commitment to Las Cruces In the summer of 2009, the UNM Cancer Center conducted an extensive review of our programs, and concluded that it is more efficient for Memorial Medical Center to conduct day-to-day operations of our Las Cruces clinic, but the UNM Cancer Center will continue to provide expert cancer physicians. In addition to a few physicians who are based in Las Cruces full-time, the UNM Cancer Center will also send specialists on a rotating basis to best serve the needs of our patients in Southern New Mexico.
