Personal Statement

I’m a surgical oncologist with special focus in treating benign and cancerous diseases of the liver, pancreas and bile duct (HPB). My dual fellowships and years of experience give me an in-depth understanding of HPB diseases, indication for surgery, proficiency in the technical aspects of these complex operations, and mastery of my patients’ pre- and post-operative health management. Optimal outcomes require a collaborative team of teams. A multidisciplinary approach, provided by the oncology specialists at the UNM Comprehensive Cancer Center and by my outstanding colleagues at UNM Hospital, assures my patients well-coordinated and optimized care tailored individually to each of them. We take pride in providing state of the art medicine, accessible to all and close to home. Safety and quality are our principal priorities. Resident and student education is an integral extension of my mission. Lastly, my team and I highly value the collegial collaboration we have with community providers, which serves all New Mexicans.
