We are honored that you have chosen to receive your cancer care here at the University of New Mexico Cancer Center. Our world-class physicians, nurses, pharmacists, patient navigators and supportive care specialists work closely with our outstanding research scientists to bring you the most advanced cancer diagnosis and treatment available, so you can get the care you deserve right here at home.

As the Official Cancer Center of the State of New Mexico, and the only National Cancer Institute-designated cancer center in our state, we offer an unmatched depth and breadth of cancer care. We are home to New Mexico’s largest and most experienced team of cancer specialists, including 85 board-certified oncology physicians and 126 research scientists recruited from prestigious institutions across the world. All of our faculty and staff members are dedicated to providing you with the finest treatment and support from the moment you begin your care.

Because the UNM Cancer Center has been designated by the NCI, we have access to nationwide clinical trials, which offer our patients the most cutting-edge cancer treatments. These new therapies are being developed both here and at other NCI centers. You should discuss your eligibility for clinical trials with your team of physicians.

We realize that cancer affects every aspect of life, and that cancer patients and their loved ones have very specific needs. That’s why we have developed a wide range of programs to address not only your cancer treatment, but also support your total wellbeing. Our Patient and Family Support Services include counseling, nutrition guidance, patient education, social work and an array of support groups, with new programs being added regularly.

As you begin your care at the UNM Cancer Center, we encourage you to attend our New Patient Orientation, designed to familiarize you with our facilities, resources, services and staff to help ensure you and your family feel as comfortable as possible at the Cancer Center. Throughout your care, our Patient Navigators are available to answer your questions and help connect you with our programs and resources.
