Opportunities with the Chien Lab

  • Graduate students may apply through the Graduate Biomedical Sciences Program (BSGP) and then should contact Dr. Chien regarding opportunities for second year rotations or thesis projects.
  • Postdoctoral fellows, research scholars, and clinical fellows should contact Dr. Chien directly.
  • Undergraduate students are encouraged to apply for summer internships through the UPN program.

Choosing a Research Project

Our laboratory is interested in advancing the genetic basis of cancer. Prospective trainees with research interest in cancer genetics, cancer genomics, functional genomics, bioinformatics, and molecular cancer therapeutics should contact the laboratory to explore short-term or long-term research opportunities in these areas. Trainees will have the opportunity to work and learn in a transdisciplinary research environment that integrates cancer genomics, functional genomics, bioinformatics, and molecular biology.

Major Areas of Research

Our laboratory is engaged in research activities to advance the standard of care for patients with ovarian cancer. Major areas of research include Cancer Genomics, Functional Genomics, Bioinformatics, and Molecular Cancer Therapeutics. Our transdisciplinary research program is highly innovative and collaborative with other scientists at the UNM Comprehensive Cancer Center and around the United States.
