Cheryl Willman, MD, Director of the University of New Mexico Cancer Center, agreed on the need to get the message out about the need for cancer research. “You build upon your unique strengths and capabilities” in getting that message out, she noted. In the case of her cancer center, the message is one of serving an ethnically diverse population that includes Native Americans and Hispanics, who have their own cancer patterns. Dr. Willman said she is less concerned about replacing ARRA funds when they run out than she is about having enough sustained, continuing funding for training grants. Link
