Congratulations to C. Jeffrey Brinker, PhD! Dr. Brinker was recently elected a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
According to its website, "The American Academy serves the nation as a champion of scholarship, civil dialogue, and useful knowledge." Its members reflect the full range of disciplines and professions in the sciences and arts, including mathematics, the physical and biological sciences, medicine, the social sciences and humanities, business, government, public affairs, and the arts. The Academy's Fellows include more than 250 Nobel laureates and 60 Pulitzer Prize winners.
Dr. Brinker joined Sandia National Laboratories as a member of the technical staff in 1979 and was appointed a distinguished member of the technical staff and National Laboratory Professor of Chemical Engineering and Chemistry at UNM in 1991. Since 1999, he has been jointly employed at UNM and Sandia.
He is internationally known for his work in advanced materials, pioneering sol-gel processing, a method for making inorganic materials molecule by molecule.
